Kahu Youth have a strong working relationship with Mount Aspiring College (MAC). We work regularly with both the faculty and students and we continuously endeavour to lend support and expertise where necessary.
Youth Workers from Kahu Youth attend MAC regularly in a variety of roles which include peer-to-peer support, running or attending programmes/projects and attending various inter-agency meetings.
We can also be found in ‘The Quad’ cooking a BBQ whilst engaging with students from all year groups and we recently joined Sticks’n’Stones on Pink Shirt Day to support their nationwide, anti-bullying campaign.
Every year, we visit Primary Schools in the Upper Clutha to promote our programmes and services to all Year 6 students and encourage them to visit us when they reach Secondary School. We know this can be a challenging period for rangatahi and our aim is to provide support and care during this time.
During Term 1 of every school year, we organise a Year 7 Only Thursday to provide a safe space for those who want to join in on fun, games and a variety of activities.
